Important Yearbook and other Senior Information

Yearbook:

Seniors may have received a letter to "order their yearbooks!" This was sent out by the yearbook company IN ERROR!!!!

Your yearbooks are already ordered and paid for and each includes a nameplate for each yearbook.

SAVE THE DATE:
Thursday, January 21, 2010, School #56, 6:00 - 7:00 pm: Mandatory Senior Trip meeting. The senior going on the trip and at least one parent/guardian MUST ATTEND!!!!!!
AND
Immediately following, from 7:00 to 8:00 pm - College Financial Meeting with your guidance counselors

Senior trip: Sunday, January 24 - Friday, January 29th, 2010.

ENJOY THE CITY BOOKS:
A limited number of Enjoy the City Books are left in Mrs. Banas' room. The cost is $20 (of which $5 goes towards the individual and $3 towards the class). They will be available until Friday, December 18, 2009. They make a nice gift!

PLAID BOXERS:
There are two pairs of size small boxers left, $15, in Mrs. Banas' room if anyone is interested.

THANK YOU:
Thank you very much to all the seniors who represented City Honors so well at the Walden Galleria on 11/29. Although it was not as profitable as we had hoped, every little bit helps and it was enjoyable!

Also, many thanks to ALL the seniors who helped at the Winter Holiday Bazaar. by doing the entertaining, manning the table, setting up, cleaning up, etc. Your help with entertainment, manning tables, setting up and breaking down really helped make the event a great success. All your efforts are very much appreciated.

PJ Pants & Shorts: There are 2 leftover Large pants $25), 1 Large shorts, and 2 small shorts ($15) (located in Room 203) if anyone is interested.

WALDEN GALLERIA EVENT:
All slots are filled at present. Our table location is: First Level of the Walden Galleria Mall, between Sephora & Ruhel. You should have received instructions from me already. If anyone else is interested, I will put you on a waiting list in case someone can't make it.

WINTER HOLIDAY BAZAAR:
Thank you to those who already contacted me to volunteer. Jobs include setting up/decorating after school on Friday 12/4, helping out at the Class of 2010 table on 12/5 (10 am -1 pm), entertaining, and clean up. These can be used as CAS hours.

Important Senior Information

MESSAGE FROM MRS. BANAS:

Senior hoodies will be available for pick up the day before Thanksgiving. Only seniors who have paid their dues in full will be able to pick them up. Students will fill out the order form for their cap & gown when they pick up their hoodies.

MESSAGE FROM MRS. NATALI:

PLAID PANTS & SHORTS:
Are in! Please pick up from Room 203 starting Thursday, November 12. A few students still need to pay for their order. There are also a few extras ordered, so let me know if you are interested.

WALDEN GALLERIA EVENT:
Last chance to earn individual money towards senior dues or trip by selling Enjoy the City Coupon Books, Senior Dollars, and Fowler's chocolates at the Galleria Mall. Only a few slots are still open. It will be Sunday, 11/29/09 from 10 am to 9:30 pm.

HOLIDAY WINTER BAZAAR:
Will take place on Saturday, December 5, 2009 from 10 am to 1 pm at School 56. Volunteers are needed to sell items at the Class of 2010 table. Students are also needed to entertain on stage (and will be eligible for CAS hours).
This is a group fundraiser (helps the entire class). Remember, your senior dues are based on projected group fundraising for the year. Any leftover money will be used towards discounts on prom tickets and an after-graduation party.

Upcoming important dates/items of interest

Reminders for the class:

1. The second senior trip payment of $300 is due on Wednesday, October 28th.
2. Innisbrook orders are in and can be picked up in room 203 before homeroom, during first and eighth periods, and immediately after school.
3. This is the only week to sign your senior hoodie and choose your hoodie size. Come by room 203 before homeroom, during first and eighth periods, and immediately after school. You can order an extra hoodie for $25 if you bring in the money by Monday, November 2nd.
4. Enjoy the City sales end Friday. Bring in your sample book, orders, and money to room 203 on Friday. Books will be in before Thanksgiving.
5. Senior dues and senior dollars are due November 30th.

INNISBROOK SALES: Are now over! Congratulations to Ashley Brown, the top seller, who sold over $650 worth of items! 15 students participated and had over $2500 total sales! Stay tuned for delivery dates. Any students available to help put orders together at that time will be much appreciated. Thanks to Mrs. Ellie Mason for handling this fundraiser and giving us the opportunity to earn individual money for senior trip & dues. Class of 2010 Information from the first senior meeting

Senior Information & Important Dates

SAT Dates:
• October 10 (register by 9/9; late registration by 9/23)
• November 7 (register by 10/1; late registration by 10/15)
• December 5 (register by 10/30; late registration 11/12)

ACT Dates:
• October 24 (register by 9/18; late registration 10/2)
• December 12 (register by 11/6; late registration 11/20)

Class Officers: Same Dolce, Demetrius Williams, Ashley Brown, Latesia Manuel, Julia Morrissey, Leah Natali, Randy Toth.

Magazine Assembly: Date: TBA – Students who want to help/develop the senior skit should see a class officer ASAP.

Senior Breakfast: Saturday, October 3rd in the cafeteria. The start time will be 9:30 a.m. It should last no longer than 2 ½ hours. Parents are invited and encouraged to attend. The guidance counselors and administrators will speak on very important senior year topics. There will also be an opportunity to pay your class dues.

Senior Hoodie Design Competition: Designs due to Mrs. Banas by Friday, September, 25th. You must provide a design for the front and back of the hoodie (taking into account that zips will be a choice again). Students will vote on the designs at the senior breakfast. Hoodies will be ordered after ALL senior dues are all paid.

Senior trip information: Trip information is being handed out today. Registration forms are available from Mrs. Banas – only pick one up if you are DEFINITELY going. The price did not go up this year. Your $150 non-refundable deposit is due by Friday, September 25th. Bring the registration form and $150 check or money order, made payable to Travelogs, to Mrs. Banas. NOTE that the class is paying $45 towards each senior’s trip.

Senior dues: Dues will be $210 ($110 if you use your $100 credit towards dues and not the senior trip). Senior dues cover your yearbook, senior page, senior hoodie, senior dinner admission, cap & gown, rental of Kleinhans, flowers at graduation, diploma cover, and class gift. They are due by Monday, November 30, 2009.

Senior Dollars: Available now in the IB office (room 203). All raffle ticket stubs must be turned in with the corresponding monetary amount by Monday, November 30, 2009. Students don’t have to wait to turn them in, they can be brought in once 10 or more tickets (dollars) are sold. They can be turned in each Thursday during 8th period. The raffle will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2009.

Turning in money: This year, I will be receiving some much needed (and very much appreciated) help with collecting money. Ms. Natali will be in Room 203 every Thursday during 8th period and until 2:45 p.m. All senior dues and senior dollar deposits will go to her. I will only be collecting and writing receipts for the senior trip this year. However, if you cannot make it Thursdays from 1:38-2:45 p.m., then you can drop off your deposit to me in an envelope and Ms. Natali will write receipts when she comes in on Thursdays and the receipts will be placed in your homeroom mailbox.

Graduation!!!!

Seniors: remember to arrive at Kleinhans at 1:30 p.m. SHARP on Thursday, June 25th for graduation rehearsal. You will NOT be allowed to walk at graduation if you do not come to the rehearsal. You are then to report back to Kleinhans by 6:00 p.m. that evening to prepare for the ceremony. The ceremony will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Also, there will be a reception (punch and cookies) immediately following the ceremony in the Mary Seton Room at Kleinhans.

Very Important Reminder for Seniors!!!

Seniors who have not cleaned out their lockers and/or returned locks to Security:

The administration would like you to come into School #8 between 11:30 am and 1:30 pm on Monday, June 22, 2009 to clean out your locker and/or return your lock to Mr. Gunsauley.

This will be your LAST opportunity to remove your belongings from school. After 1:30 pm on Monday, the lockers will be opened and all contents will be thrown out or given to Goodwill.

Additionally, you will owe the school the cost of your locker combination lock if you do not return it to security.

2. If you were unable to attend the senior dinner, be sure to pick up graduation announcements from Mrs. Banas in room 203.

3. Remember to pay book fees for lost books, return all books, parking permits, and other school owned property as soon as possible. Also do not forget to turn in your internship time log and reflection sheet once your internship ends. Not returning these materials means you will not receive your diploma on June 25th.

4. You cannot attend the senior picnic on June 15th if you do not turn in a permission slip ahead of time (meaning BEFORE the day of the event).

End of year information

- Seniors who received parking tags from Mr. Gunsauley at the beginning of the year must return them to him as soon as possible. Diplomas will be held until they are returned.

- The senior year information sheet is past due. It was due to Mrs. Banas on Monday, May 11, 2009. Diplomas cannot (and therefore will not) be printed for those seniors who do not turn their forms in - they are already late. Please turn them in by Friday.

- The senior dinner will be held at the Pearl Street Grill on Wednesday, May 27, 2009. It starts at 6:00 p.m. Seniors' dinners are covered by dues. Family is invited and encouraged to attend and the cost is $25/person. Seniors who plan on attending MUST let Mrs. Banas know by Friday, May 15, 2009. Payments for family members are also due that day. Graduation announcements will be given to the seniors that night as well.

- Seniors who do not let Mrs. Banas know they are attending the senior dinner will be turned away at the door. A guaranteed count must be given and it is assumed that a senior is NOT attending unless she is told otherwise.

- Each senior will receive $15 off their prom ticket this year.

- Tickets are not required to attend graduation.

- Rehearsal for graduation will take place at Kleinhans at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2009. Seniors who do not attend rehearsal do not participate in the graduation ceremony.

- Seniors are to arrive at Kleinhans by 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2009. Graduation starts promptly at 7:00 p.m.

Senior Trip Meeting Time Change

The mandatory senior trip meeting on Thursday, January 15th will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the aud. at School #8 (not 5:00 p.m.).
